BOGUS DRAGON 9.5 AUCTIONS:
INTRO
I am a long-time user of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I have limited use of my hands, so I depend on it. I don't like to see pirated versions of Dragon on eBay. It hurts both the manufacturer and the unsuspecting user. Pirates recycle the activation key from one CD and apply it to the copies they make, often using labeling programs to make it look like a real copy of Dragon. Their copies will not be recognized because they are not original programs. Sometimes, the copy you receive will have been activated five or six times already if not even more, which puts you on thin ice even though you aren't the one who violated the license. Also, sometimes the "free headset" thrown in with the copies won't even work with Dragon.
Even if you get a pirated version to install, it will stop working without warning and you won't know when. You will not be able to download service packs or upgrades or receive technical support, and it will be disabled altogether-- this has particularly been a problem when users have tried to transfer eBay versions of Dragon to their new or second computers. The activation often pushes the software over the maximum number of times you were allowed to install (because the key has been activated by other people, remember?), and you are shut out of installing it again. Especially if you also depend physically on speech recognition, it's not worth having the eventual breakdown of the software hanging over your head. Buy a retail version -- then it's guaranteed to work for you and you alone. Your peace of mind is worth it.
